Swiss Ball Training:

“Swiss Ball Training is a good tool to aid in good posture training and for good back maintenance” Using the ball as part of your workout will improve your balance and stability.   Machine exercises are OK but like all machines they are fixed to the floor, so it is not very challenging on the postural muscles, and it only targets the muscle your are working on.   Using a Swiss Ball can improve a number of different muscles in one hit.   This is because it activates not only the muscles targeted, but the more unstable the surface the more activation from your postural muscles.  Having good posture will aid in better functional performance, and less chance of back problems.  The end result is that the more improved stability will result in being able to lift with greater ease, walk more efficiently and improve any muscle imbalances.
The Swiss Ball is an effective tool for rehabilitation as well.  As the Swiss Ball is unstable even sitting exercising or balancing activates a number of different muscles within relation to posture.  The ball is a versatile piece of equipment as it can be used for a number of exercises but can be used as a weights bench as well.   Before you commence any exercises on the ball it is advised to warm your lower back up with some simple warm up exercises.

How To Size The Swiss Ball:

When sizing the ball your thighs should be parallel to the ground.  If your have lower back pain you should have the ball inflated slightly higher.

As part of a toning or general conditioning programme I will be able to include the Swiss Ball into programmes which teach you a use muscles you most probably haven't used for a long time.
